What to Know about Isis
Isis is the Egyptian winged goddess of the moon. From her inception she loved humans and taught women how to tame men enough to live with them and how to give birth safely.
Legend has it that Isis was married to Osiris. His brother Seth killed him and had his body cut into hundreds of pieces that were scattered all over the land. Isis so loved Osiris that she gathered up all of his pieces and blew life back into his body. She loved Osiris so much that she re-membered him and in doing so reminds us to embrace all of the fragmented pieces of our psyche and spirit. Her invitation to each of us is to love ourselves enough to breathe life back into our own wholeness or holiness.
In another story, she tried the god Ra into revealing his most secret name by making a deadly serpent out of dust and causing it to bite him. When Ra was at the point of death, he revealed his secret and she used the power of her words to heal him. Isis was then given the gift of great magic and the knowledge of how to use sound to manifest anything.
To call upon Isis, wait until after dark and put on your favorite essential oil, perfume or aftershave. When you ask for her help, you are likely to feel her lovingly enfold you in her winged arms. She is also considered the light bearer of heaven. A beautiful bowl of water with a floating candle is a wonderful backdrop for any quest. When asking Isis for her assistance, say, “Isis, please teach me how to harness the incredible power of love. Give me the courage to make my choices lovingly, and fill me with the power of your faith. I give thanks for your presence in my life, for your love, your protection and your wisdom.
